We were very excited to be at the launch of Merge Festival last night. British visual artist Peter William Holden’s Dance Machines installation launched the month-long programme of cultural events. His dancing mechanical legs combine art and music with science via robotic engineering.

Tap dancing robots brought the disused building in Borough High Street to life with a symphony of rhythms and taps activated by the public at the control panel. There was a small control panel where you could reinvent the piece and create your own composition using sixteen switches to trigger short sequences of sound and movement.
